Mount Pisgah is just outside of downtown on Trudeau Road. This expansive recreation area is used for biking, concerts, weddings, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, mountain biking, snowboarding, snowshoeing, sporting events, tubing, and walking/hiking. Jackrabbit Ski Trail

This iconic Adirondack ski route begins in Keene and passes througth several communities, including Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, on its way to Paul Smiths. At 34 miles in length, this wide trail offers a lot of options for quick out-ant-backs or scenic all day ski trips. Learn more.

Prescott & Riverfront Parks

Home to the popular Lake Flower Boat Launch in the summer and the Winter Carnival Ice Palace in the winter, Prescott and Riverfront parks are a gorgeous stretch of Adirondack scenery along the shore of Lake Flower. You can catch a variety of water-related events here in the summer, as well as some decidedly different Winter Carnival happenings in winter.

Lake Colby Beach, also known as William Wallace Park, is a community staple that has seen more than 40 years of public use. Located just north of downtown on Route 86, this scenic spot is a haven for beachgoers in the summer and a magnet for ice fishing in winter. Be sure to linger in the evening — the sunsets here are stunning.

Saranac Lake 6er Hiking Challenge

The Saranac Lake 6er program was born in 2013 as a way to get people to experience the beauty of these summits. The hikes cover a range of difficulty, with Mount Baker, which is located right in the village, offering the easiest path. Hike all 6 and earn a patch! Learn more here.

Update*** No longer will starting at Baker Mountain Trailhead count for the 6er challenge.  From this day forward, to earn a 6er title, one must start and end their Baker Mountain Summit (on foot) from the 6er bell. (Located in Berkeley Green Park).

Dewey Mountain Recreation Center

Less than a mile from downtown, Dewey Mountain Recreation Center has a trail network for skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and for mountain biking in the summer. There’s a cozy lodge at the base of the mountain that’s perfect for warming up after trying the center’s varied paths, which range from easy to difficult. Look out for learn-to-ski programs, night skiing, and the popular ski jams, where you’ll find live music, night skiing, and a bonfire. Saranac Riverwalk

Follow the Saranac River as it winds through downtown, and wave to the kayakers and ducks along the way! This is a great little path for families who want to see Saranac Lake’s natural side without straying from civilization. Bring a fishing rod and drop a line in the water, or just enjoy the scenery on the Saranac Riverwalk.

Riverside Park is located on the corner of River and Main streets, right on the shore of Lake Flower. It’s easy to find because people are usually gathered there enjoying the gorgeous view of Scarface Mountain or participating in one of the many events that take place here. In the summer it might be a free concert, fun runs, or the huge Farmers Market, which happens every Saturday. In the winter the park is home to one of Winter Carnival’s most endearing events, the Ladies’ Fry Pan Toss. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like!

William Morris Park, located on the corner of Bloomingdale Avenue and Depot Street, is commonly called Carousel Park because it’s home to the wonderful Adirondack Carousel. Young and old alike love riding the delicately crafted Adirondack animals, which were all carved by local artisans. Pick your favorite — the options include a black bear, loon, and a black fly — and enjoy the ride! The park is also home to a playground, and numerous events and activities for locals and visitors to enjoy. Learn more here.

Completed in 2015, Saranac Lake’s skateboard park is located between Broadway and Church Street, behind the Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Community Bank. But this isn’t some backyard skatepark — the project received a $25,000 grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation and now offers 5,000-square-feet of concrete flow and street features.

Berkeley Green

The centerpiece of downtown, Berkeley Green is a beautifully tiered park that’s a magnet for activity year-round. The stage is used for free weekly concerts in the summer — when there isn’t music in the air, people are picnicking, reading, and relaxing on the grass here. In the winter you might find carolers singing or people gathered around the bonfire. The Green is also home to the 6er bell. Give it a ring after you’ve climbed all six mountains!

This scenic little park  is home to a Korean and Vietnam War Memorial and has tennis courts, basketball courts, boat docks and a car-top boat launch. There are benches for relaxing, and a nice view of Dewey Mountain from the shore of Lake Flower.

Ken Garwood POW Park

Located on the corner of Broadway and Ampersand Ave., Ken Garwood POW Park is within walking distance of Saranac Lake's French Hill neighborhood, the Civic Center, and Saranac Lake High School. This beautiful space offers a variety of amenities and is open to the public. It is especially popular with families with young children.
